Tableau de bord 1 page
A simple dashboard that leads to a decision
The objectives and figures for the period, turned into a one-page summary for an executive committee: what is improving, what is declining, and the decisions to make.
The problem
Communication dashboards count what has been produced: so many posts, so many events, so many views. An executive committee draws no decision from them, and communication comes across as a cost centre that reports without asking for anything. What was missing was a format that starts from the objectives and ends with a request.
What I did
I designed a page limited to four indicators, each tied to an objective, with its previous value, its value today and its target. I placed the decisions to make on the same level as the figures, and linked the tool to the communication plan, whose objectives it reuses.
The result
A page that reads in one minute: the trend of each indicator, the share of the target reached, the facts that explain the figures and what is expected from the committee. The tool flags an indicator that is declining with no decision proposed, and compares two percentages in points rather than in percent.
What I learned
A dashboard with no decision to make is just a report. What gives communication weight in front of senior leadership is arriving with a costed proposal, not an observation. And four indicators are enough: beyond that, you are no longer steering, you are archiving.
Autonomy: share of the project built on my own, without a developer. Maturity: progress, from idea to a product people use.
